Pack a bag and escape to Hamilton Island

Posted by Klassikoz Swimwear on

Hamilton Island is where the idea for Klassikoz Swimwear was born, so it is fitting that our first blog is about this paradisiacal destination. This is place where you can truly press the reset button. A romantic destination, yes, but you don't need to be a couple to enjoy what Hamilton Island has to offer. If you like to keep active on your holidays, the Island offers hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and snorkelling, just to name a few. Or perhaps you prefer to laze back and relax on your holidays; don't worry the Island has you covered. Warm all year round, you can lay by the beach or resort pool and read your favourite book all day. Swim-up bar, did you ask? Why yes, the resort pool has one of those too. As night rolls in, you will be spoilt for choice with the Island's superb dining options. So come on, let's go to Hamilton!

Where to stay

Luxury

If you are looking for world-class luxury, then look no further than Qualia. The resort is an exclusive and peaceful sanctuary, available to guests aged 16 and over. Located at the northern tip of the Island, Qualia offers 60 private pavilions with postcard views, two swimming pools, a gym, spa and private dining options including the award winning Long Pavilion. The ultimate of all retreats, Qualia rates commence at $1250 per night. If you haven't already done so, put this retreat on your bucket list!

Mid-range

If you are looking for something more affordable, we can recommend the Palm Bungalows which offer relaxed 3 star accommodation set amongst tropical gardens. These are perfectly positioned, being only a couple of minutes walk from the popular Catseye Beach and a short walk to the Marina.  If you prefer to avoid the larger, busy resorts, these private bungalows are for you. Rates are from $400 per night.

Large groups

For larger groups, we highly recommend booking a holiday home through www.whitsundayholidays.com.au

What to do

Bushwalking

Get outdoors and hit the Hamilton Island trails. Here you will enjoy scents of nature, capture wildlife in their natural habitat and take in breathtaking views of the Great Barrier Reef. The trails are a place to get lost, to shut out the rest of the busy world, quiet your mind and truly connect with nature. You will most certainly feel uplifted from the experience! Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and take plenty of water.

Water activities

After working up a sweat along the trails, why not cool off at the resort pool and enjoy a well-earned drink at the swim-up bar. Or perhaps you prefer the beach? Catseye Beach, with its calm turquoise waters, is a hive of activity. Offering snorkelling, sailing, stand up paddle-boarding, kayaking and more, you will be well entertained down by the beach.

What to bring

Be sure to pack these essentials for your Hamilton Island getaway:

  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Suncream
  • Comfortable walking shoes for the trails
  • Smart flat shoes for restaurant dining
  • Casual light day wear
  • Smart casual attire for evenings (most restaurants accept casual attire but if you intend to dine at Bommie Restaurant you will need to be dressed in smart casual)
  • A jacket for the evenings if you stay during the winter months as it can get a little cool in the evenings
  • Swimwear. Klassikoz Swimwear has you covered. We recommend a bikini style with long sleeve rashie to keep you protected from the sun when enjoying the Island's water activities.

The Island does have a local store if you forget any toiletries, but be prepared to pay a little extra for these items on the Island.

Hamilton Island is hilly in parts, so we would recommend leaving the heels at home ladies.

Enjoy your trip and we hope you love Hamilton Island as much as we do!
